Advocacy is not a ‘new age’ concept for Christianity. But it is often confused for other things (charity, getting noticed on social media etc.). Which is why we here at Micah Challenge have created Advocacy 101 to help explain:
-What is advocacy?
-Why should we advocate as Christians?
-How can we advocate?
This guide is for people who are just finding out about the world of advocacy, who know what it is and want to go deeper or even for ‘veterans’ seeking to reel themselves back in to advocacy’s original intent.
This evaluation has 60 questions delving into 6 areas of church community living (10 questions per area). Pastors, church leaders, or even individuals can take this evaluation to see where your church is at, where can you grow, and where are you doing well in regards to living out justice.
We understand that the issues of the world are vast and oftentimes confusing/complicated, so it can be difficult to know how to pray for people around the world. We have put together a guide to help with that!
There are three issues that we focus upon here at Micah Challenge that dramatically impact the most impoverished around the world: corruption in extractive industries, protecting funding for lifesaving development programs, and climate change.
This guide outlines prayers and scripture regarding these issues. You can use it to join us in corporate prayer as we seek to end extreme poverty.
This prayer guide leads each of us through thanksgiving, repentance, and petition as we seek to end extreme poverty and reduce the effects of changing climate.
We ask that you join thousands of Christians around the world as we meditate on the scriptures and prayers in this guide.
The SDGs, Sustainable Development Goals, are series of 17 goals the international community has created that address significant issues facing the world and the most impoverished among us.
The United States has been instrumental in working toward achieving the MDGs and will continue to be key as we seek to implement the SDGs. It is our job to keep our government accountable to the promises that they made in September 2015 at the United Nations, and for that we need your help.
Join thousands of Christians around the world praying through each of these goals. We know our God is a BIG God and we cry out to him on behalf of the worlds most vulnerable.

The issue of corruption (especially within natural resource extraction) is critically harming those living in extreme poverty around the world. This film highlights the nature of a less than reputable extraction company, showing how they flout laws and conventions to get what they want.
This film screening guide will help you to take this conversation further within your own community. It includes information about how to set up the screening, major themes seen in the movie, discussion questions, and action steps.
