What is Take A Stand?
Take A Stand is a movement of Christians who stand up for and alongside of people in extreme poverty.
We stand alongside brothers and sisters from across the world, as part the Micah Challenge movement in 50 countries speaking out against injustice, praying passionately “on earth as it is heaven”, and living humbly in service to the gospel.
Tough choices will have to be made in the coming year as Congress works to reduce the deficit. Cuts have to be made, but they shouldn’t be at the expense of those living in extreme poverty around the world who benefit from the US poverty focused development assistance (PDFA).
Why the Church?
One of the most inspiring and powerful forces in the world is the gathered followers of Jesus, the Church, moving out into this broken world with the good news.
In particular, the role of the Church as advocates for justice has been a driver of social change for generations. We look to the end of the slave trade, the Civil Rights movement, and the Jubilee Movement to cancel debts of the poorest nations as our inspiration for the potential to create lasting change in our world.
What Can You Do?
We invite you to take a stand as an individual, family, or community. Small acts, woven together by the spirit, and covered in prayer can change the world! God has used grassroots movements like ours to bring justice to a broken world.
Advocacy isn’t just for professionals and policy types! It is for the individual inspired to stand for justice, the campus group desperate to make a difference, and the Church longing to bring light to a broken world. Join thousands across the nation and stand up for people in extreme poverty!
